Leadership

Returning to the Classroom Changed Me

What administration looks like after seeing leadership again from a teacher's chair.

Leadership decisions look different when viewed from the classroom. Returning to direct student work made the distance between policy and practice impossible to ignore.

Teachers experience initiatives through time, workload, clarity, and whether the change helps the students in front of them. Leaders must understand that reality before asking for implementation.

The return reinforced a simple belief: visibility matters. Leaders should regularly enter classrooms not to perform evaluation, but to learn.

The strongest leadership question may be, “What is this decision asking people to carry, and what support have we provided?”
